Budget Committee Meeting

All Selectmen meeting have been attended by a Budget Committee member
Discussion centered around our mission for the coming budget season of educating the citizens of Greenfield on the budget and its impact on tax rates.
Including:
How to control Town spending.
Parks and Rec budget growth, more info is needed on programs and plans.
What can we afford to spend?
Should there be a Dollar amount set, as a do not exceed for budgeting.
Best way to present information when ready.
How to keep budget flat with no year-to-year spikes
Town property value has doubled to 168 million in 5 years
Norman, reported and his research so far, it’s still early in the process and hopes to be done for next meeting.
David, reported on his progress, David is still gathering and reviewing budgets.
Discussed Capital Improvement Plan, and tax and budget impact.
Norman is familiar with condition of front-end loader, and feels is does need to be replaced.
Road reconstruction project is so large, budget and tax impact needs to be reviewed and alternate ways to complete and pay for the project need to be studied.
Discussed wage and benefit study, Selectmen would like Budget Committee involvement, in reviewing plan.
